OTHER WATERS

For those anglers who prefer fishing off the beaten path we offer guided trips to several private lakes as well as Willow Creek which reside on private land.

Private Lakes

Some of the biggest trout around reside in many of the private lakes and ponds in the region. Trout over 2 feet are occasionally hooked, with 15-20 inch rainbow, brown and brook trout being the norm. These trout have a pretty easy life feeding on the plethora of aquatic insects that reside in their habitat. Common summertime hatches include Callibaetis, damsels and terrestrials which can keep the fish looking up to the surface to feed.

Most of these Stillwater fisheries can be fished out of a drift boat, giving clients the opportunity to sight fish to cruising trout. Since these fisheries are all privately managed, an access fee is charged on top of your guide fee that goes driectly to the landowner Typically these run $50-100 per angler per day.

These lakes are a great option during spring runoff time. If you are around Livingston during mid May through late June, many of the rivers water levels can be high due to snowmelt. Our local Stillwater fisheries have consistent water clarity throughout the season,

"There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most opimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home."
