Private Stillwaters (float tube/drift)
Long Outfitting has access to several private lakes near Livingston. These lakes offer both dry fly and nymph fishing for cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout in the 15 to 25 inch range. These are wonderful fisheries to teach beginners how to cast, detect strikes, and hook, fight, and land some nice trout on a fly. Most of these lakes do have a rod fee and advanced reservations are suggested. |
Madison River (wade/drift) In the spring and fall, we offer guided trips to the Madison River. If you are staying in Bozeman, arrangements can be made to pick you up and continue on to the river. Browns and rainbows are commonly caught in the 10 to 20 inch range. |
The Gallatin is one of the prettiest streams around.
Starting in Yellowstone National Park as a meadow East Gallatin (wade) This small meandering meadow stream has both the characteristics of a freestone stream and a spring creek. The water is never as clear as a spring creek, but the trout are every bit as smart. The fish in the East Gallatin grow large due to the high nutrient content and abundant insect life of the creek. Dry flies and nymphs consistently take nice rainbows and browns from this well kept local secret.
The Boulder flows through the picturesque valley where
the Horse Whisperer was filmed near Big Timber,
